Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar Polytechnic—widely known as ICV Polytechnic—is one of Jhargram’s principal institutions for diploma engineering. Established in 1957, it has served the region for nearly seven decades.

A Government polytechnic since 1957
The institution’s official history identifies it as a Government polytechnic affiliated with the West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development and recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education.
Diploma engineering programmes
The official portal lists diploma study in Computer Science and Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Course availability and intake can change, so applicants should consult the current admission notice.
Learning through application
Polytechnic education combines scientific principles with laboratory and workshop practice. Students learn to read technical drawings, use instruments, analyse systems and solve practical problems—skills relevant to industry, infrastructure and further engineering study.
A regional pathway into engineering
ICV Polytechnic gives students from Jhargram and surrounding districts access to technical education close to home. Its long history has produced a large alumni community working across public service, industry, entrepreneurship and higher education.
